About us and getting involved
South Petherton Community Library came into being in March 2019. It is run by a team of volunteers, led by an employee of Somerset County Council Library service.
We not only provide books, magazines, newspapers, computers, talking books and research material, we also have a Lego club for youngsters on Saturdays.
The library is generously supported by our corporate sponsor, SES, and South Petherton's Parish Council. The Parish Council provides funding from the annual precept. Of course, we welcome members from outside our parish and you can support us by becoming a Friend of South Petherton Library.
If you love books, and you believe a community needs a library, why not become a volunteer? The hours are flexible to fit in with your life and commitments.
It's a great opportunity to meet people, while ensuring a vital service is still available for everyone's enjoyment. Training, not too onerous, is given. We also have a few sociable get-togethers throughout the year purely for fun.
If you'd like to join our very friendly team, email Mark and Biddy at spclvols@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Friends of South Petherton Library

A community library relies on friends to support it. Although South Petherton Parish Council is a generous supporter of our library, we still need to raise funds to improve the range and quality of equipment held and to enhance the range of services on offer.
The money we raise will help us keep the library open for everyone's enjoyment and use. To date, the funds raised have been used for a variety of purposes, e.g. to set up and maintain the website, to purchase folding tables, to subsidise author events, and for improving the book stock to include new releases and best sellers through our Fast Track scheme.
It's easy to become a Friend of South Petherton Library. Membership forms are available in the library.
Friends of South Petherton Library is a registered charity in the UK and exists to promote and keep the library going for everyone's enjoyment.
Our Sponsors

We are grateful to...
Security & Electrical Services (Yeovil) Limited, our first corporate sponsor. Thanks to their generosity, the Community Library Partnership is able to provide a much needed service in our village.
